If you breathe as deep as possible, as often as possible, then you will become aware of your natural state of awareness. Deep breaths are so important if you want to improve your life. The lungs must be stretched as far as possible without discomfort from the inhale and exhale. This is how you can always remain in pure awareness of your own connection to “the infinite”.
Reading these words won’t get you to that state. Try making every breath you take from the beginning to the end both in and out, your new personal record. Feel every single centimeter of every single inhale and exhale in complete awareness. You can do this by taking each breath very slowly in and out, almost like like an hourglass, the sand falls slowly but surely. If you take up this idea of constantly setting new records in your depths of breath, then you will start to directly cultivate love for all of existence. Really try doing this for just 30 minutes and you will notice results.
Sometimes people emphasize taking deep breaths for whatever reasons, but they completely disregard the out breath. On each exhale you are allowing “the infinite“ to consume your being, and on each inhale you are pulling in everything from this physical reality that we experience. You are breathing in so much more than just air. You are breathing in everything external to you. Put the label that you want on it, but many people simply call it “energy”. The inhale and exhale are equally important just like every other pair of opposites in this dualistic illusion that we call life.
We love to make excuses for why we can’t take every breath in full awareness. It sounds so stupidly simple to just focus on your own breathing that we completely disregard it for more “important” things, like our jobs or our daily activities. It is so simple that a toddler could do it, so why should we bother right? We think it can’t make that much of a difference, or that it’s too distracting. With practice you will start to realize that deep awareness of your breathing doesn’t distract you, it actually focuses you in ways you’ve never known. We just aren’t used to doing this so thats why it can be quite difficult at first.
The lungs are the most important thing in your entire body. The four basic needs are food, water, shelter, and air. The hilarious thing is that most people only talk about the three basic needs, forgetting about air. This is a testament to how much we have forgotten the importance of the lungs. Every basic need, except air, can be forgotten about for an extended period of time. People have gone extreme lengths of time with no food, water, or shelter. The longest someone has ever gone without air as of right now is just 22 minutes and 22 seconds. Imagine how deep their last breath was before setting that record! The previous record was 22 minutes.
“The infinite” is living through each of us. The innermost being within you has a certain essence to it. That animating life essence is far beyond love and beauty. To get really in touch with your core self you have to leave your mind behind. Its not about feelings or thoughts, its about residing in the center of your being. There is nothing to worry about, nothing to think about, just try to feel your deepest level of self. Completely relax everything from the top of your head to the bottom of your spine, especially between your legs. After just a few minutes you may think that you’re already completely relaxed between your legs, but you aren’t. Keep breathing deeper and deeper and the base of your being will continue to feel like it’s opening up and relaxing more and more. Once your entire body is 100% relaxed you get to a place where you can literally leave your self. Society calls this falling asleep, or dreaming. You can be awake and still reside in this state of supreme relaxation, but not if you haven’t cultivated a deep level of awareness. If you do this, not only will you have intense other-worldly experiences, but you will be cultivating nothing except the most intense love for every moment. Don’t put this off for later in life, you don’t have to do more important things right now. This is the “most important” thing you could ever do and you will know why once you attain it. When you relax every inch of your body in every moment you will be residing in a place that is beyond words.
There is a huge difference between being comfortable and being relaxed. Being comfortable doesn’t necessarily mean that all of your muscles are completely disengaged. When you truly want to relax, don’t force your eyes closed, let them go where they want. Completely relax your jaw and your tongue. You’ll notice how your natural breath is forced to come in through the nose and out of the mouth when you’re completely relaxed. Just shut down your mouth muscles and allow yourself to almost feel suffocated. You may be creating some strange snoring-type noises, but you will be 100% relaxed.
Take an hour or two every day to do nothing. You will get so much out of this. Don’t knock it till you try it! Just do it for one week and you will start to notice the results are affecting you all day every day. Maybe set a timer for the two hours if you’re worried about ending too early or too late. Don’t force thoughts, don’t try to avoid thoughts, don’t try anything, just be with yourself. You don’t have to try to do anything that I’ve been talking about, just be.
